Why should I study a College SA Beauty Therapy Course?

With the increase in beauty spas and leisure centres, studying a beauty course will equip you with knowledge and skill for a job in this growing industry.

Career opportunities for qualified beauty therapists are expanding rapidly, and a qualified beauty therapist can become a senior employee, or move to a managerial position, after only two or three years of working in the field.

This is a very diverse industry, so you have the opportunity to expand your skills into different areas, which can lead to starting your own business or working free-lance, and thereby determining your own income potential.

What is Beauty Therapy?

Beauty therapists usually work in a salon and use a range of facial and body treatments to help their clients look and feel better. They offer treatments such as makeup application, eyelash and brow shaping, manicures, pedicures, body massage, hair removal and non-surgical facial therapies.

What does a Beauty Therapist do?

Beauty therapy can be divided into three areas:

Facial Therapy - involves manual and/or electrical treatments on the face and includes courses such as Facial Skin Care and Makeup Application.

Body Therapy - involves both manual and electrical treatments on the body, and includes manicures, pedicures and waxing. Courses such as Nail Care and Massage Techniques fall into this category.

Electrology - involves removing unwanted hair on the body and face and studying a Hair Removal course will prepare you for this position.
