This course provides theoretical training to artisans and is offered via the NATED programme. The N1 foundation level is the first in a 3-level engineering programme. In N1 you will learn the mathematics, science and drawing skills that form the basis of all engineering trades. Learn the skills and techniques needed to research, design, install and test electrical and electronic equipment and supervise its manufacturing. The electrical trade involves the generation, distribution and management of all appliances and installations that generate or use electrical energy.

Assessment information

You have to successfully complete and submit the required 3 assignments per subject in order for College SA to prepare your term mark. College SA will ensure that term marks are submitted to your exam venue and, together with your exam, these are submitted to the Department of Higher Education and Training for evaluation. Once you have successfully completed all the required national exams, you will be awarded a National Certificate.

Exam information

  • College SA fees do not include external exam fees.
  • Exam fees fluctuate from centre to centre
  • Exam fees are payable separately by the student to College SA who will then pay it to the examination centre.
  • Exams are written in April, August and November of each year.
  • You are eligible for the exams once you have successfully completed three written assignments; once you have registered, the school will advise you on the assignment- and exam registration deadlines.
