What will you learn in this Engineering Studies: Electrical N2 course?

This course provides theoretical training to artisans and is offered via the NATED programme. The N1 foundation level is the first in a 3-level engineering programme. In N1 you will learn the mathematics, science and drawing skills that form the basis of all engineering trades. Learn the skills and techniques needed to research, design, install and test electrical and electronic equipment and supervise its manufacturing. The electrical trade involves the generation, distribution and management of all appliances and installations that generate or use electrical energy.

This is the study material you will receive when you enrol for the Engineering Studies Electrical N2 Course. Your study material for this course includes textbooks, study guides and assessment guides.

Mathematics N2

This module gives you an overview of Mathematics N1 terms and factors, fractions, and root and exponential forms. Learn about the laws of exponents, how to solve equations, linear equations, factorisation, and how to use algebraic graphs to calculate function value. Gain the skills needed to work with trigonometric ratios by defining the six ratios. Learn how to solve right-angled triangles by means of trigonometric functions.

Engineering Science Theory N2

This module gives you an overview of N1 engineering scientific principles you need to know in order to understand engineering systems. You will cover the following: energy, work, power, composition of matter, statics, dynamics and electricity.

Industrial Electronics N2

Learn background information about the definition of electronics and where and how it is used. Learn about measuring instruments, semiconductor diodes and transistors, transducers and direct currents. You will be introduced to the synchro system and the advantages of the system.

Electrical Trade Theory N2

This module covers the methods of installing cables, cable selection and inductance. Learn about the different types of power: true power, apparent power and reactive power. Learn the skills needed to earth underground cables, power stations and substations.
