What are subjects?

Subjects are the particular fields of study that are covered in a course. The subjects below make up this course and will need to be completed in order for you to complete this course.

This is the study material you will receive when you enrol for the Engineering Studies Motor Trade N1 Course. Your study material for this course includes textbooks, study guides and assessment guides

Mathematics N1

Mathematics is one of the three compulsory fundamental subjects in the NATED programme. Learn how to solve equations, word problems and manipulate formulae. You will get the skills to do algebraic graphs, trigonometry, logarithms and factorisation. The purpose of this module is to produce a person who can confidently apply mathematics in other disciplines and in real life situations.

Engineering Science N1

In the module you will learn about the laws of physics that provide the background principles required to understand engineering systems. You will cover the following scientific elements: energy, work, power, composition of matter, statics, dynamics and electricity.

Industrial Electronics N1/Engineering Drawings N1

(Students have to choose between Industrial Electronics and Engineering Drawings. You will then continue with the 1 subject you have selected throughout your N1 – N3 studies.) Get background information about the definition of electronics and where and how it is used. Learn about the atomic theory, cells and batteries, resistance, capacitor operation and the theory of magnetism.

Motor Trade Theory N1

Learn about safety in the workshop, workshop tools and the different engine components. Get the skills and techniques needed to work with heat engines, engine positions, lubrication and cooling systems, batteries and wheels and tyres.
